Terms & Conditions | Kiln Rental Service
Please carefully read and adhere to the following terms and conditions to ensure a safe and efficient firing process.
Prohibited Materials: Do not use glazes or stains containing lead or cadmium. These materials can contaminate our kiln and all future firings.
Glazing Precautions:
Ensure your pieces are not over-glazed to avoid sticking to the kiln shelves.
Do not glaze the underside of your pieces. Glazed undersides may cause the piece to stick to the shelf, potentially resulting in damage to both the shelf and the piece. Significant damages to our kiln and shelves due to melting glaze or other materials will incur fees.
Dryness of Pieces:
Ensure all pieces are bone dry before firing. Test by holding the piece to your face; if it feels cold, it still contains moisture and could explode in the kiln.
We are not responsible for breakages that occur in the kiln due to moisture or other factors.
Scheduling and Usage:
Contact us in advance to schedule your kiln time, as the kiln may be in use.
If you require a specific temperature for firing, you may need to rent the entire kiln.
When renting a shelf, scheduling may take extra time depending on demand and the required firing temperature. (if you in a rush you may need to rent the entire kiln).
Greenware and Raw Glazing:
Greenware or raw glazing is allowed, but we highly recommend conducting a test firing before filling the kiln with your pieces.
Ensure all pieces are clean of glaze underneath. We are not responsible for any damage during firing, and any damage caused to the kiln or other pieces will incur a fee. A minimum fee of £50 will be charged for damages caused by melting glaze.
Collection of Pieces:
Please collect your pieces on the scheduled date and time. Failure to do so may result in additional storage fees or disposal of your pieces.
Cancellation & Refunds
Cancellations Made 48 Hours or More Before the Appointment:
Appointments cancelled 48 hours or more in advance will be rebooked for the next available day at no additional charge.
Cancellations Made Less Than 48 Hours Before the Appointment:
Appointments cancelled less than 48 hours in advance will be charged £35 per appointment.
Absences:
If a client does not show up for a scheduled appointment without prior notice, the full price of the booking will be charged. Rebooking will be required for a new appointment.
Fees for Damages: Any significant damage to our kiln or shelves due to non-compliance with these rules will result in a minimum fee of £50.
Liability: We are not responsible for any breakages, damage, or loss of pieces during the firing process.
Responsibility: It is your responsibility to ensure that all pieces are prepared according to these rules to avoid damage and fees.
Firing Results Disclaimer: We are not responsible for the final results of pieces after glaze or bisque firings, including but not limited to color changes, imperfections, or any flaws arising from the firing process. This includes issues caused by particles of clay, glaze, or other materials either on the pieces or inside the kiln during the glaze firing that may affect the final outcome.
